Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about professional badminton court construction, flooring surfaces, fixed vs movable post systems, and turnkey installation timelines.

The official BWF playing boundary is 13.40 meters × 6.10 meters (44 ft × 20 ft) for Doubles and 13.40 meters × 5.18 meters (44 ft × 17 ft) for Singles. With minimum recommended safety clearances (1.5m along sides and 2m along baselines), the total required space is 15.40 meters × 8.10 meters.

For Indoor Courts, BWF-approved PVC Vinyl Sports Mats (4.5mm to 7mm) or Sprung Maple / Teak Hardwood Flooring are the gold standard, offering unmatched shock damping and shoe grip. For Outdoor Courts, Modular Interlocking PP Tiles and 8-Layer Cushioned Synthetic Acrylic are best due to rapid drainage, UV resistance, and weather durability.

Fixed Ground Posts (such as 46mm square steel pipes) are permanently grouted into the court slab with floor sockets, ideal for dedicated single-sport arenas. Movable Weighted Posts (50 KG, 80 KG, or 100 KG cast iron bases per side) feature heavy-duty rubber wheels allowing swift roll-away removal in multi-purpose community halls, school gymnasiums, and clubs without drilling into the floor.

For recreational and club level play, a minimum vertical clearance of 7.5 meters to 9.0 meters (25 to 30 ft) above the court is recommended. For national and international BWF tournament standards, a minimum height of 12.0 meters (39.4 ft) is required, free from hanging obstacles and AC ducts.

Vinyl sports mat installations can be completed within 2 to 4 working days once the sub-base is cured and level. Full turnkey outdoor or wooden indoor courts (including civil sub-base laser levelling, court surfacing, post installation, anti-glare sports LED lighting, and safety netting) typically take 10 to 20 working days.
